Welcome!

Are you an administrator of a school? Do you struggle with teacher retention? Do your students deserve the best possible supports to increase their learning?

If so, finding ways to support teachers new to your school is the most effective way to encourage learning. Maready et al. (2021) found, "that new teachers who received induction support during their initial years of career demonstrated a significantly higher retention rate than those who did not," (pg. 89). Ensuring that your teachers feel supported in their careers will, in turn, support your push for growth of an environment dedicated to community and student success.

Creation of a NEW TEACHER HANDBOOK can be time consuming and frustrating, finding the time to create an effective program is difficult. The focus of this blog is to provide an outline to create just that.

This should be a living document that grows and changes as your staff, community, and school changes. Please take the outline of this handbook, and mold it to fit the needs of your school. I developed a starting off point to help support your new teachers' growth and development.

Please fill free to leave comments or suggestions on how to improve or what should be added that would further support teacher learning and retention.
